Monday, December 8 – “Full of Grace”

Scripture

“And he came to her and said, ‘Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.’”

Luke 1:26–38

Reflection

Today we rejoice in Mary, the Immaculate Conception, she in whom God prepared

a perfect dwelling for His Son. Conceived without sin, she is the dawn before the rising of

the Sun of Justice. Her yes, her fiat, opened the way for the Word to take flesh.

Mary’s grace is not distant or abstract. It is the fruit of her total openness to God’s

will. She shows us what it means to receive Christ completely, without resistance or

reserve. Advent is the season of her faith: she believed before she saw, she hoped before

she held, she loved before she understood.

As members of the EOHSJ, Mary is both Mother and Queen. She teaches the

knightly virtues of humility, courage, and fidelity to God’s call. As she bore Christ into the

world, so we are called to bear His light into the world’s darkness.

In contemplating the Immaculate One, we are reminded that holiness is not human

achievement but divine grace received in trust. The same Lord who filled Mary with His

presence desires to dwell within us.

Prayer

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Help me to

open my heart to God’s will as you did, that Christ may be born anew in me this Advent.

Amen.

Meditation Question

How can I imitate Mary’s openness to God’s grace in my own Advent journey?
